MannaPack Rice donation

In collaboration with Feed My Starving Children and Healing Hands International, we arranged a container of rice meals to be sent to Chedutu Primary School.

We delivered a total of 100 MannaPack Rice boxes, each weighing 13.6kg, and containing 36 individual MannaPacks. A single MannaPack serves an average of 6 meals. That’s a total of 21,600 meals! This provided every Chedutu student with a daily meal for around 8 months. The meals were received with a deep sigh of relief by the whole school, but mostly by the children.

While every child was excited to receive the food, one boy, considerate beyond his years, suggested that the meals be prepared only for the children who come from the furthest villages. His concern was due to the fact that many of the students are required to walk as far as five kilometres to get to school everyday. Because of this, they have to wake up very early, and often get back home very late. This boy’s kindness is indicative of the sense of community fostered by Chedutu Primary School.

Solar Water Pump

With a donation by Cary Gordon Trantham and the help of the Mokore Ranch and John Dube, we were able to set up a solar water pump at the Chedutu school. The school had been without water for two whole years! As there is no electricity at the school a solar pump was the only viable option.

Thank you to John Dube for helping us source a team to tackle the installation of the solar water pump. It was installed in June 2021 as a number of excited school children looked on. The teachers at Chedutu were excited about the pump too, as is reflected by the below quote:

"Our pride as teachers was long lost. Thank you for bringing it back. You have indeed come to our rescue and this is a great relief for us as teachers and the school pupils."

We’d like to thank everybody who was involved in this initiative. Let’s keep working together to supply Chedutu with food, clean water, and school supplies so that their teachers can focus on giving the children the education they deserve.
