Our mission to help Chedutu Primary

According to the United Nations, nearly 90% of Zimbabwean children experience malnutrition. We’re on a mission to help change that by bringing food and supplies to Chedutu Primary School. With the help of generous supporters like you, we’re optimistic we’ll achieve our goals!

School feeding program

The school has been closed since March, 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic but is scheduled to open on September 28th, 2020. According to recent data released by the ZimVAC, 5.5 million people, 38 percent of the rural population, is currently facing food insecurity. By the end of this year, the food security situation is expected to “worsen” with an estimated eight million people requiring urgent action to reduce food consumptions gaps and save livelihoods. The government department of Social Welfare which used to supply schools with maize grain, has stopped since the start of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

We want to ensure food accessibility through programs focused on putting the best healthy food possible into the hands of the Chedutu School community. We are researching different avenues to get maize grain to the school and once the garden project is producing, there will be fresh vegetables.

Providing water

The water situation is pathetic. In 2019 a new borehole was drilled but there is still not a pump installed. The teachers are struggling to access water relying on the one and only borehole in the area that caters for two villages both people and animals. The school is failing to raise funds for the completion of the project. Please help us help them to purchase a pump and get it installed. Once the water provision is completed, everything will go smoothly. As you know, water is life and everything is possible once there is water.

Education

Our goal is to promote and advocate for the establishment of Sustainable Agriculture Education Programs. Our mission goal is to provide an educational experience centered around a Sustainable farming model which is healthy for the individual and environment. We feel that education and food are the major factors in breaking the Generation Poverty Cycle.

Sustainable agriculture training

The Sustainable Agriculture Program seeks to support the development, application, research and exchange of best teaching and learning practices in Sustainable Agriculture Education and Curriculum through communication, training, development and collaborative activities for teachers and learners. Our mission is to build community through education, food accessibility and by being a model of appropriate land stewardship and Sustainable Agriculture Techniques.

We will encourage a continuation of Organic farming methods through training and providing the tools for garden hands on practicals in their own pursuit of responsible land Stewardship.
